Microgreens: A Small Crop With a Big Return

Microgreens are plants harvested just 7 to 14 days after germination — before true leaves form. They are distinguished by very high nutritional density and intense flavor.

Most in-demand varieties: peas, sunflower, radish, broccoli, and onion — all fast-growing and easy to market.

To start producing you need: shallow trays, seed-starting medium or rockwool, high-quality seeds, and good lighting (natural or LED).

Market prices in Egypt range from EGP 200 to 400 per kilogram, with a short production cycle that makes them ideal for fast cash flow.

Watch the video above for a step-by-step growing walkthrough with tips for an optimal harvest.
